Formerly the Ruby Award, named after the first federation president Ruby Lee Minar, honored women who worked to improve the lives of women and girls. When this award was disbanded by SIA, Soroptimist International of Klamath Falls renamed it as the Outstanding Klamath County Woman Award and kept the same criteria.
This award honors women who – through their professional or personal efforts – are making extraordinary differences in the lives of women and girls. Honorees are women whose work has had a significant impact and that both inspires and encourages other women. A Club level donation is made to the charitable organization of the winner’s choice. Local Soroptimist members nominate candidates who are not affiliated with the organization. Award winners are announced in May or June of each year.
